A micro-festival of music, theatre, and dance. Socially-distanced experience design during the time of a pandemic. 10 musicians, 10 rooms, with audiences of 10 entering at 10 minute intervals. Previous themes include ‘The Cabinet of Curiosities’, ‘The Persistence of Memory’, ‘Inferno’, and ‘Melancholia’. Various locations and dates, 2020 - 2022.

A site-specific fully-staged walkthrough-experience of Schoenberg’s Pierrot Lunaire, Op. 21. The 20th century masterpiece redesigned and recontextualised for the 21st century audience. May 2022.

Music and… ?

An ongoing series pairing musical performance with varying presentations on different topics including the history of trance; a lecture on coffee roasting and tasting; dance and the body; humanistic psychology. 2021 - ongoing.

Ritual Design Series

An exploration and experimentation with the extant rituals in traditional classical music performances (from ticket purchase and arrival, to the moment the audience leaves and everything in between), and how they can be modified to create deeper and more meaningful connections to musical performance. 2019 - ongoing.

1781 LAB Sessions

An experimental space for musicians and performers to try out new performance concepts and ideas in an informal setting. The 1781 Laboratory is offered to 1781 Collective members and friends as an opportunity to workshop different concepts before they’re ready for public performance.

Techno/EDM Festival Performances

Bringing classical music to unexpected places! One of our favourite things to do, performing at techno festivals. Invited to Garbicz Festival (Poland) in 2021 and 2022, as well as curating the final stage performance at Fusion Festival in 2022 for Bachstelzen’s Panne Eichel stage.

VEXATIONS: 24h Marathon Performance

A full performance of Erik Satie’s 24 hour marathon piece, ‘Vexations’ for 48 Stunden Neukolln Festival, 2022. This performance played with the question: ‘Who deserves, and what defines a concert? Who is quantified as a musician?’ In our opinion: everyone who wants to be. 12 pianists from complete amateur to international prize-winning professionals shared a stage and were celebrated as equals, because making music shouldn’t be limited to those deemed worthy.

Q Berlin Questions After Party

Crossdisciplinary performance integrating contemporary dance, architecture, classical, and electronic music for the afterparty of the 2018 Q Berlin Questions conference at EWerk Mitte. Capturing the various elements of Berlin’s creative scene and combining them into one 20-minute through-performance.

Tres historias en Madrid: Lorca, Dalí y Buñuel

A mixed-media theatrical-musical performance in Spanish, exploring the friendship between three of Spain’s most influential artists, and their personal connection in Madrid in the 1920s - before the fascist government of Franco changed everything. February 2019
